President Bola Tinubu will on Monday convene the Nigeria Police Council to formally consider Olatunji Disu as substantive Inspector-General of Police, sources confirmed.
The meeting, required under the Police Act 2020, precedes the transmission of Disu’s name to the Senate for confirmation. Disu, 59, has been acting IGP since Wednesday following Kayode Egbetokun’s resignation.
Tinubu tasked Disu to lead with integrity, prioritise officer welfare, and restore public confidence in the force.
Disu joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 and holds degrees in English Education, Public Administration, and Criminology.
