81 Division Nigerian Army Investigates Disciplinary Incident at Ipaja Command School

The 81 Division of the Nigerian Army said it is investigating a disciplinary incident involving a female student at Command Secondary School, Ipaja, after a video of the event circulated on social media.

The Division said preliminary findings indicate the incident occurred on February 26 during afternoon lessons.

A Field Officer of the Week conducted a routine classroom inspection to ensure students were present, properly dressed, and maintaining order.

During the inspection, some students’ slippers were confiscated for violating school regulations.

A Senior Secondary School Three student of Rhino House reportedly wore sports attire without shoes.

She told the officer her shoes had been taken by a classmate.

The Division said further inquiries revealed the student made a caricature of the inspecting officer in class.

“The welfare, safety, and dignity of students in all Command schools remain a priority and are treated with utmost seriousness,” the Division said in a statement.

The officer involved is under investigation, and a comprehensive review of the circumstances is ongoing to ensure disciplinary measures are applied responsibly and in line with established standards.

The Army urged parents, guardians, and the public to remain calm while the inquiry continues.

The Division said the outcome will guide any administrative actions necessary to prevent a recurrence and maintain a safe, disciplined learning environment.
