The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly condemned an alleged attempt by security operatives to arrest former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
In a statement Friday, the party said the incident raises serious constitutional and democratic concerns and reflects a “troubling pattern” of selective enforcement against opposition figures under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The ADC said no warrant was presented during the attempted action, calling it a dangerous signal that due process may be treated as optional when it involves opposition leaders. The party also criticized what it described as preferential treatment for ruling party members with pending corruption allegations.
ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi urged security and law enforcement agencies to uphold their constitutional duties, warning that the party will continue to monitor developments and oppose any efforts to use state power for partisan ends.
