ADC Denies Alleged Candidate Upload by Rival Group, Calls for INEC Probe

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed reports that a group led by Nafiu Bala Gombe uploaded the names of a presidential candidate and other nominees on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s nomination portal.

In a statement posted on X, ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi described the report as false, saying it was easy to verify because INEC does not grant nomination portal access or codes to leadership structures it does not recognise.

Abdullahi said the electoral commission cannot issue two nomination codes to the same political party, arguing that such a process would allow unauthorized individuals to upload candidates and claim control of political parties.

He questioned the evidence behind the reported upload, insisting that the group involved is not recognised by law or by INEC as the legitimate leadership of the ADC.

The party also drew INEC’s attention to what it described as the alleged forgery and unauthorised use of documents purportedly issued by the commission.

ADC urged INEC to investigate the matter and take necessary steps to address what it called a misrepresentation capable of creating confusion and undermining public confidence in the electoral body.
