The African Democratic Congress has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to end delays in the production and distribution of Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party wants INEC to publish a nationwide timetable showing when newly registered voters can expect to collect their PVCs.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said registered voters deserved clear information on when and where their cards would be available.
The party also asked INEC to publish details of newly registered voters, PVCs produced and distributed, outstanding cards and designated collection centres for each state.
It urged the commission to improve public information and decentralise PVC collection where possible.
The ADC said distance, bureaucracy and poor communication should not prevent eligible voters from collecting their cards.
It warned that the issue could become more serious as the 2027 election approaches.
“Registration without access to a PVC is disenfranchisement by another route,” the party said.
The ADC said it would mobilise its structures across the country to monitor PVC distribution and document complaints from registered voters unable to obtain their cards.
It urged INEC to resolve outstanding PVC issues before Election Day, saying every card unnecessarily withheld could put a citizen’s right to vote at risk.
