Osun State Gov. Ademola Adeleke has pledged to deliver more dividends of democracy to residents after securing another four-year term in Saturday's governorship election.
Adeleke spoke shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission announced him as the winner of the election, describing the outcome as a victory for democracy and the people of Osun State.
The governor expressed gratitude to God and residents who supported his administration, saying the result reflected their appreciation of his government's performance.
“I feel great. First of all, I thank God Almighty for what has happened today. It's a victory for democracy in Nigeria, a victory for democracy, a victory for us people that have stood by me,” Adeleke said.
He said his administration had delivered improvements in infrastructure, education and agriculture, among other areas.
Adeleke promised that his administration would build on those achievements during the next four years and continue working to improve the lives of residents.
The governor's victory came after a closely contested election involving 15 candidates across Osun's 30 local government areas.
President Bola Tinubu also congratulated Adeleke on his victory after the declaration of the results.
