As part of the 2026 National Police Day celebrations, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Olohundare Moshood Jimoh led senior officers and personnel of Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, in a day-two Walkathon on Tuesday, March 31.
The event, which began in the early hours, saw a large turnout of officers and personnel.
It aimed to promote healthy living among police staff while fostering positive engagement with the public.
Speaking during the exercise, AIG Jimoh said the walkathon was “not only a fitness exercise but also a demonstration of the Police's resolves to remain approachable and professional in line of duty and engagement with members of the public.”
Yesterday, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh formally assumed duty as the 34th Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 following the promotion of his predecessor, DIG Adegoke M. Fayoade, mni, psc.
His career spans six geopolitical zones in Nigeria and international assignments, including posts in Darfur, Sudan.
He has served as Officer-in-Charge at multiple stations, Divisional Traffic and Crime Officer, Police Public Relations Officer, and Commissioner of Police in several commands, including Lagos State and Ports Authority Police Command, Port Harcourt.
AIG Jimoh has attended numerous professional courses globally, including leadership, human rights, community policing, anti-hijacking, maritime rescue, and SMART government training in the USA, China, and South Korea.
He urged residents of Lagos and Ogun states to cooperate with the Police, abide by the law, and report suspicious activities promptly to the nearest police station.
