Army Smashes Terror Cells, Rescues Hostages Nationwide

The Nigerian Army says it has recorded major operational gains nationwide, arresting suspects, rescuing hostages and recovering arms, drugs and illicit materials in coordinated operations.

In a statement, the Army said troops conducted intelligence-led raids across several states, including Kogi, Kaduna, Sokoto and Niger, leading to arrests and the destruction of terrorist camps.

Troops also rescued kidnapped victims in Kwara, Edo and Delta states, while apprehending suspected kidnappers and recovering weapons.

In the South-South, operations in Akwa Ibom led to the arrest of six suspected drug traffickers and the seizure of cannabis, methamphetamine and codeine.

In Rivers, troops dismantled illegal bunkering sites and recovered equipment.

In Plateau, troops arrested nine suspects and recovered firearms and ammunition, while operations in Abia uncovered suspected stolen crude.

“The successes reflect sustained offensive actions and effective collaboration,” the Army said, pledging to “decisively defeat all forms of criminality” and urging public support.
