The media office of ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has called for an independent forensic investigation into the controversy surrounding the alleged Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council.
In a statement, the Atiku Media Office questioned the Presidency’s claim that the agency never existed, asking how it reportedly operated from the Federal Secretariat, secured a budget code and a ₦1.3 billion allocation in the 2026 budget, and held meetings with senior government officials, lawmakers, diplomats and traditional rulers.
The statement argued that the agency could not be dismissed as fictitious in light of what it described as evidence of official interactions with government institutions, and called for a judicial probe to establish the facts.
The media office also urged authorities to investigate allegations that the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, received a ₦400 million bribe from the alleged agency head, as well as the circumstances surrounding the death of Dolapo Babatunde Tanimola, who was described as an intermediary in the matter.
It said public officials must be held accountable and called for a transparent and comprehensive investigation to strengthen public confidence in government institutions.
The Presidency has denied the allegations, describing the purported agency as fictitious and its alleged head, Adeniyi Adeyemi, as an impostor facing criminal charges for forgery, impersonation and obtaining by false pretence.
