Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde held a closed-door meeting with former Military President General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd.) on Monday at his Minna residence.
Speaking after the meeting, Atiku said the visit focused on strengthening the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Niger State and promoting real-time electronic transmission of election results, dismissing speculation about his 2027 presidential ambitions.
“At this point, this is not about me contesting elections. It is about Nigerians who want electronic transmission of election results,” Atiku said, stressing that the current mix of electronic and manual transmission “causes confusion and chaos.”
He urged opposition parties to unite in rejecting the Senate’s decision to retain manual-only backups. “We should not allow it to rest the way they want it to rest at the Senate,” he said.
Atiku added that the ADC is focused on grassroots mobilisation and strengthening structures nationwide, from ward to national levels.

He was accompanied by several party leaders, including, former Osun Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Senators Ben Obi and Ozemina, and Niger State ADC Chairman Musa Hassan.
Governor Makinde, who arrived later, declined to comment, remaining in the inner chamber for a private visit.
Atiku flew into Minna at 1:30 p.m., heading directly to Babangida’s residence, while Makinde arrived at 2:10 p.m.
