Kebbi State officials have clarified that the explosion at Bagudo General Hospital early Tuesday morning was caused by a gas cylinder fire, not a bomb.
No one was injured in the incident.
Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida, said security agencies responded quickly and confirmed it was a fire. “We commend the swift response of the Police Command and other security operatives for keeping everyone safe,” he said.
Police spokesman SP Bashir Usman added that experts checked the scene and confirmed the blast came from overheated air-conditioning and refrigerator gas cylinders. “No explosives or aerial activity were involved. Everyone is safe,” he said, urging the public to ignore false reports that could cause panic.
Authorities said investigations are ongoing, and security teams remain at the hospital to ensure safety.
