Bandits’ Drug Supplier Gamboli’ Arrested in Niger as NDLEA Smashes Major Drug Rings Nationwide

Three weeks after fleeing a police raid, Mohammed Sani, aka “Gamboli,” a key drug supplier to bandits in Niger State, was arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at his hideout in Shiroro local government.

On 20 November, NDLEA had raided Gamboli’s home in Anguwan Makera, Kuta, seizing 471.8kg of skunk cannabis.

Acting on fresh intelligence, officers captured him on 11 December at Anguwan Fadama, confirming his role in supplying illicit drugs to bandits.

Meanwhile, NDLEA conducted several other major operations nationwide between 8 and 13 December.

In Abia State, a clandestine codeine syrup factory was uncovered in Umuakpara village, Osisioma LGA, with 9,015 bottles (1,152.2kg) seized.

Enugu operatives arrested two suspects with a combined 101.8kg of skunk.

In Oyo State, a raid at the notorious “Beere the California” drug joint netted 3.4kg skunk, 1.6kg synthetic cannabis, and 400g methamphetamine.

The owner remains at large; one suspect was detained. Another raid in Ibadan led to the arrest of Olusanya Abosede and seizure of 238.4kg of skunk.

At Gbaji checkpoint, Badagry, Lagos, officers arrested Bashiru Babalola and Ugunwale Ranti with 50,000 tramadol pills.

Ogun State yielded three arrests involving over 98kg of skunk, while Ondo operatives seized 1,187kg of skunk and seeds from Veronica and Bright Obi in Akure North LGA.

In Edo State, 461kg of skunk and seeds were recovered in Uroe community, Owan East LGA. Gombe State saw arrests for tramadol and skunk-related offenses.

NDLEA

Between 9 and 10 December, NDLEA intercepted 907 pills, tramadol, tapentadol, cocodamol, amitriptyline, and bromazepam, hidden inside local black soap containers and designer clothing bound for the US, Canada, and Sweden via Lagos courier companies.

At Apapa seaport on 13 December, a joint security operation seized 170,000 bottles of codeine syrup weighing 23,579kg.

The NDLEA continues nationwide sensitization on drug abuse prevention, engaging schools, worship centres, workplaces, and communities, including recent programs in Katsina, Kano, Benue, and Enugu.

Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), NDLEA Chairman/CEO, commended the officers for their dedication and urged them to sustain balanced and effective drug control efforts.
