Bayern Edge Real Madrid in Thriller, Arsenal Seal Semi-Final Spot

Bayern Munich and Arsenal have booked their places in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals following dramatic quarter-final second-leg ties on Wednesday night.

At the Allianz Arena, Bayern Munich defeated Real Madrid 4-3 on the night to progress 6-4 on aggregate.

Bayern had taken a 2-1 lead from the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, setting up a finely balanced return fixture. The second leg delivered a seven-goal thriller, with both sides trading blows in a frantic encounter.

Despite Real Madrid fighting back in spells, Bayern produced a strong finish to the game to complete the turnaround and secure qualification in front of their home supporters.

In London, Arsenal confirmed their place in the last four after a 1-0 aggregate victory over Sporting Lisbon.

The Gunners had claimed a 1-0 away win in the first leg in Portugal, and held firm in the return fixture to protect their advantage and complete a disciplined two-legged performance.

Arsenal controlled key phases of the second leg, limiting Sporting’s attacking threat to see out the tie and advance.

Both Bayern Munich and Arsenal now move into the semi-finals as the competition reaches its decisive stage.
