Benue State Gov. Hyacinth Alia has condemned an attack on the Mbalom community in Gwer East Local Government Area, describing it as “heinous” and unacceptable.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor expressed sympathy to families affected by the attack, attributed to suspected armed herders, and assured residents of government support.
Alia said the attack reflects a disturbing pattern of violence in parts of the state and vowed that his administration would not allow criminal activity to continue unchecked.
He commended security agencies for their response and urged them to intensify efforts to track down and prosecute those responsible.
The governor also called on residents to remain calm and provide security agencies with credible information to help restore peace in the affected communities.
