Boko Haram Attack on Borno Military Base Kills Soldier, Burns Hospital and Police Post

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents launched a coordinated attack on Logomani community in Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State, killing a soldier and destroying key public facilities after attacking a military base.

The attackers stormed the community late Tuesday, first targeting the Forward Operating Base in Logomani before setting fire to a police outpost, a primary healthcare centre and two classrooms. Residents fled as gunfire echoed through the area.

Confirming the attack on Thursday, Acting Military Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Capt. Muhammed Goni, said troops successfully repelled the assault despite suffering casualties.

"The troops rapidly regrouped, mounted a determined counter-offensive and decisively expelled the attackers, inflicting significant casualties," Goni said.

He added that one soldier was killed, while two-gun trucks and other combat equipment were damaged during the firefight. Reinforcements have since been deployed, with clearance operations continuing.

Residents described the assault as swift and well-coordinated.

"The terrorists were very sophisticated. They burnt two classrooms, a police outpost and a hospital," one resident said.

Ngala Local Government Chairman, Mala Tijjani Ngala, visited the affected community and assured residents that the damage assessment would be forwarded to the Borno State Government for urgent intervention.
