The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has begun the process of removing 100,000 companies from its register for failing to file annual returns and other statutory documents.
In a public notice, the commission said the exercise is being carried out under Sections 692 (3) and (4) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA), 2020.
CAC directed the affected companies to regularise their records, including filing all outstanding annual returns and beneficial ownership information, within 90 days. It said the list of affected companies is available on its website.
The commission also asked companies to submit evidence of compliance to its designated email address, warning that any company that fails to comply within the deadline will be struck off the register without further notice.
CAC said the exercise is part of efforts to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and maintain an accurate register of companies operating in Nigeria.
