Nigeria will host the Confederation of African Football’s Ordinary General Assembly in November, bringing together football leaders from across the continent.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe announced the decision during a press briefing in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he outlined the body’s plans for football development after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Motsepe said Nigeria was chosen because of its strong football history and contribution to the growth of the sport in Africa. He added that CAF wants all 54 member countries to benefit from its programmes and investments.
The CAF General Assembly is the highest decision-making meeting of African football, where representatives from member associations discuss key issues, including governance, competitions and the future direction of the sport.
Motsepe also expressed disappointment over Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, saying the tournament would have been incomplete without the Super Eagles and other top African teams.
He urged countries across the continent to continue working towards greater success on the global stage.
