The Confederation of African Football (CAF) says it will review FIFA's proposal to open the commercial operations of the FIFA World Cup and other major tournaments to private investment.
In a statement on Wednesday, CAF said its president, Patrice Motsepe, will meet with the Confederation's Executive Committee next week to examine the proposal and determine Africa's position.
CAF said its member associations will also participate in the consultation process in line with FIFA and CAF regulations.
The football body said it remains committed to working with its member associations, FIFA, other continental confederations and stakeholders to increase financial resources for the development of football in Africa and globally.
The proposal follows FIFA's plan to establish the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), a commercial subsidiary that will manage the business operations of its flagship competitions, including the FIFA World Cup.
Under the proposal, FIFA will retain majority ownership of the company while seeking to raise about $4.2 billion by selling minority, non-controlling stakes to long-term investors.
The proposal has sparked debate across the football community, with some governing bodies raising concerns over the commercialisation of the World Cup and the consultation process.
