Cameroon Beat Hosts Morocco on Penalties to Reach WAFCON Final

Cameroon have defeated hosts Morocco on penalties to secure a place in the final of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The semi-final clash ended 0-0 after regulation time and extra time in a tense and closely contested encounter, forcing a dramatic penalty shootout.

The night belonged to Cameroon goalkeeper Michaely Kyria, whose outstanding performance proved decisive.

Kyria first kept her side in the contest with a crucial save from the penalty spot in the 116th minute of extra time, denying Morocco a late winner.

She then delivered a heroic display in the shootout, saving three penalties to guide the Indomitable Lionesses into the final and silence the home crowd.

Morocco, backed by strong support, pushed throughout the match but were unable to break down a disciplined Cameroonian defence.

Cameroon’s victory sets up a final showdown against Malawi, who earlier defeated Algeria 3-1 to reach their first-ever WAFCON final.

Malawi’s run has been one of the standout stories of the tournament, while Cameroon will rely on both experience and momentum as they aim to reclaim continental glory.

The final now presents a clash between Cameroon’s resilience and Malawi’s fairytale run, with the title at stake.
