CBN Warns Public Over Fraudulent Messages, Cyberattack Attempts

The Central Bank of Nigeria has warned the public about fraudulent messages and cyberattack attempts falsely linked to the bank.

In a statement, Acting Director of Corporate Communications Hakama Sidi Ali said scammers are circulating emails and online messages designed to mislead users and gain access to personal information.

She noted that such messages often contain false claims about the bank’s leadership, licensing, and policies, and may prompt recipients to click suspicious links.

The bank urged the public to verify all communications through its official website and trusted media platforms, avoid sharing personal details on unverified sites, and report suspected fraud to law enforcement.

The CBN added that it is strengthening its cybersecurity systems in collaboration with relevant agencies to protect the financial system.
