CNS Urges Discipline as Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre Graduates 576

The Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC) recently marked the graduation of 576 retiring military personnel from Course 2/2025, as part of its ongoing effort to support smooth transitions from military to civilian life.

The ceremony, held on December 12, 2025, featured the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, who was represented by Rear Admiral Abubakar Mustapha, Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command.

The CNS praised the graduates for their dedicated service and urged them to apply the vocational and entrepreneurial skills gained during their training.

“Today, we honor your courage, sacrifice, and commitment to our nation.

As you embark on this new chapter, discipline and prudent management of your resources are essential for success in civilian life,” said Rear Admiral Mustapha.

He cautioned against risky financial ventures, emphasizing the importance of self-discipline and adaptability.

Air Vice Marshal Bashir Mamman, Commandant of NAFRC, highlighted recent upgrades to the Centre’s facilities, including new accommodations, solar street lighting, and an enhanced e-learning platform.

He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support of the Centre's programs.

“Since its inception, the Resettlement Centre has trained over 54,000 personnel, equipping them with skills necessary for self-sustenance and community development,” Mamman said.

“We remain committed to transforming this Centre into a hub of vocational and entrepreneurial excellence.”

Out of 629 enlisted retirees, including 26 females, 576 successfully completed the comprehensive training program, which covers entrepreneurship, vocational trades, and financial management to prepare participants for life after service.

The ceremony also acknowledged the vital role of families who supported the graduates throughout their military careers.

The Armed Forces leadership assured continued prioritization of welfare and professional development for both serving and retired personnel.

As veterans, the graduates were encouraged to remain active in their communities, support local security efforts, and serve as role models of integrity and patriotism.

“Retirement is not the end of service but the beginning of new opportunities to contribute to national growth and peace,” Rear Admiral Mustapha concluded.

The Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre continues to innovate despite funding challenges, expanding training in agriculture, waste management, and renewable energy through partnerships with government agencies.

Ongoing projects include infrastructure upgrades and programs aimed at widows, orphans, and youths connected to military families.
