COAS Shaibu Orders Special Forces to Crush Terrorists Nationwide

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu has ordered the Nigerian Army’s 4 Special Forces Command to intensify operations and “achieve decisive dominance” over terrorists and insurgents across the country.

Shaibu gave the directive Tuesday during his maiden operational visit to the 4 Special Forces Command in Doma, Nasarawa State.

He said the Army’s Special Forces remain “at the forefront of a determined campaign to dismantle and neutralize criminal networks threatening national security.”

Addressing troops of the 4 Special Forces Command and the Nigerian Army Special Forces School, the army chief stressed the need for precision-driven, intelligence-led operations.

“The era of reactive engagements is over,” Shaibu said. “Terrorists and violent criminals will find no sanctuary anywhere within Nigeria’s territory.”

He urged troops to remain proactive and mission-focused, noting that the evolving security environment demands speed, surprise and superior combat readiness.

Earlier, Shaibu received operational briefings from the Commander, 4 Special Forces Command, Maj. Gen. Olurotimi Azubuike Awolo, and the Commandant, Nigerian Army Special Forces School, Brig. Gen. Umar Faruk Abubakar.

The army chief expressed satisfaction with operational readiness and training standards.

He approved the immediate construction of additional accommodation blocks and other critical facilities to improve training capacity, operational efficiency and troop welfare.

Shaibu assured officers and soldiers that their welfare, and that of their families, remains a priority.

“A well-supported and professionally grounded force is essential to sustaining operational dominance,” he said.

The visit ended with a tree-planting exercise at the cantonment.
