A cyclist has died in a tragic accident under the LASUTH Bridge along Airport Road, Ikeja. LASTMA says a DAF articulated truck crushed the rider while both tried to navigate the roundabout from the Maryland direction.
The truck driver tried to flee but was quickly apprehended by LASTMA operatives and handed over to Ikeja Police for investigation. Officials from the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit removed the victim and restored traffic flow.
Hon. Sola Giwa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, expressed condolences to the family and urged cyclists, commercial motorbike riders, and other vulnerable road users to stick to traffic rules and avoid major roads.
LASTMA reiterated its commitment to road safety enforcement, warning everyone to act responsibly and help prevent avoidable tragedies.
