The Dangote Group has dismissed reports alleging a rift between its President, Aliko Dangote, and Chairman of Heirs Holdings, Tony Elumelu, describing the claims as false and malicious.
The company said neither Dangote nor the organisation made any statement suggesting a disagreement between the two business leaders.
It also rejected claims that Dangote sought financial assistance from friends and associates to complete the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, insisting that such assertions are inaccurate and misleading.
According to the statement, Dangote does not finance projects through informal personal borrowing and any such claims should be backed by credible evidence.
The group further dismissed viral reports alleging that Dangote approached prominent figures, including Elumelu, for financial support during the refinery’s construction and fell out with him over an unfulfilled $20 million pledge.
It described the entire narrative as fabricated and clarified that there is no strain in their relationship, noting that both men continue to maintain a long-standing and cordial association.
Beyond the specific claims, the company raised concerns about the growing spread of misinformation, particularly the unauthorised use of Dangote’s name and image in manipulated or AI-generated content.
It warned that such actions could lead to reputational damage and fraud, and cautioned individuals and platforms involved to desist or face possible legal action.
The Dangote Group reaffirmed its commitment to integrity and its ongoing role in driving industrial growth, economic development, and self-sufficiency across Africa.
