DSS Closes Case Against El-Rufai As Defence Plans No-Case Submission

The Department of State Services (DSS) has closed its case against former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai in the ongoing alleged wiretapping trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

At Tuesday’s hearing, prosecution counsel Oluwole Aladedoye told the court that no further witnesses would be called, formally ending the DSS’s case.

Following this, the defence team led by Paul Erokoro informed the court of plans to file a no-case submission, arguing that the prosecution has not provided sufficient evidence.

The defence also requested two weeks to file the application, while the prosecution asked for time to respond and sought a variation of El-Rufai’s bail conditions, describing them as too strict.

However, the prosecution’s request was opposed by the defence, which maintained that the bail requirements were overly stringent.

Delivering ruling, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Abuja declined the bail variation request, stating that qualified civil servants who meet the conditions exist.

The case was adjourned to September 22 for the filing of the no-case submission and continuation of proceedings.
