Nigeria’s Super Eagles have dropped four places to 30th in the latest FIFA Men’s World Ranking released on Wednesday, October 7.
The three-time African champions, who were ranked 26th in the previous ranking, now have 1,567.97 points following a mixed international window.
Nigeria also dropped two places in the African ranking, moving from fourth to sixth.
The Super Eagles began the latest international window with a 2-1 comeback victory over Madagascar in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo.
However, Eric Chelle’s side suffered a major setback in their next qualifier, losing 3-0 away to Guinea-Bissau.
Nigeria ended the window with a 3-3 draw against Russia in Nizhny Novgorod on October 6, but the result was not enough to prevent the drop in the latest FIFA ranking.
Morocco remain Africa’s highest-ranked team at seventh in the world, followed by Senegal in 18th, Egypt in 25th, Algeria in 28th and Côte d’Ivoire in 29th.
The Super Eagles are now sixth in Africa, with DR Congo, Cameroon, Mali and South Africa completing the continental top ten.
Spain remain the world’s number-one ranked team, ahead of Argentina, France and England, while Portugal moved up to fifth.
The next FIFA Men’s World Ranking is scheduled for release on November 18, 2026.
