Education Ministry Disowns Fake Circular, Confirms Sept. 14 Resumption

The Federal Ministry of Education has disowned a fake circular circulating on social media that claims students of Federal Unity Colleges nationwide have been granted an additional three-week holiday.

In a statement Saturday, the ministry said the document did not originate from it and should be disregarded.

It reaffirmed that Monday, Sept. 14, 2026, remains the approved resumption date for all Federal Unity Colleges, with no directive extending the holiday or shifting resumption to Oct. 4.

The ministry said the purported circular, dated Sept. 8, 2026, and referenced “FME/SS/UNI/2026/128,” was fraudulent.

It added that the document falsely bears the name and signature of Dr. (Mrs.) Aisha Garba as permanent secretary. The ministry clarified that its acting permanent secretary is Dr. Mrs. Folake Olatunji David.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, assured parents, guardians, students and other stakeholders of the Federal Government’s commitment to a safe, orderly and seamless resumption.

The ministry urged the public to verify information through its established communication channels and refrain from reproducing or circulating fake official documents.

It reaffirmed its commitment to providing accurate, timely and transparent information.
