The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company has announced the successful deployment of its integrated billing platform, SuperEdge, aimed at improving prepaid vending, postpaid billing, collections and meter management services across its network.
The company said the new platform is part of efforts to strengthen operational efficiency and provide customers with a more seamless and technology-driven service experience through enhanced self-service features.
Customers under EEDC’s subsidiary distribution companies — MainPower, TransPower, FirstPower, EastLand and NewEra — are also expected to benefit from the upgraded system.
According to the company, the SuperEdge platform allows customers to authenticate payment receipts using QR codes, generate receipts for previous transactions, purchase electricity tokens, regenerate Key Change Tokens and apply for meters.
Customers can also retrieve details of previous token purchases, check outstanding arrears and interact directly with customer service representatives through the platform.
EEDC advised customers to save the number 08150826233 and connect through WhatsApp by sending “100” to access the services.
The company further disclosed that arrangements had reached advanced stages for the commencement of electronic billing in June 2026, which will enable customers to receive monthly electricity bills through email or mobile phones instead of physical delivery.
Customers were encouraged to update their records by completing Know Your Customer forms and providing current phone numbers and email addresses.
Meanwhile, EEDC announced a temporary shutdown of its vending platform to allow for a major system upgrade tied to the SuperEdge rollout.
The shutdown is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Friday for postpaid customers and midnight for prepaid customers, with normal services expected to resume by midnight on Sunday, May 24, 2026.
During the period, customers will be unable to recharge prepaid meters, purchase energy tokens or make payments.
The company noted that the first phase of the project, focused on prepaid customers and Standard Transfer Specification meter upgrades, was completed in February 2024, while the second phase has now migrated postpaid customers onto the new platform.
