Egbin Power Plc has restored electricity generation with an output of 433 megawatts following the completion of maintenance works on its cooling system.
The company’s Head of Corporate Communications, Felix Ofulue, confirmed the development on Wednesday in Lagos, saying operations had stabilised and generating units were now functioning optimally.
According to him, the maintenance exercise was carried out to improve operational efficiency and ensure more reliable electricity generation to the national grid.
“Operations have resumed and the units are working optimally. As of Wednesday morning, the plant was generating 433 megawatts to the national grid,” Ofulue said.
He explained that engineers and technical personnel successfully completed work on the cooling infrastructure, allowing gradual restoration of power generation across the plant’s units.
Ofulue also reaffirmed the company’s commitment to safety standards, operational efficiency and increased generation capacity.
Industry stakeholders say the restoration of output from the plant is expected to strengthen electricity supply and support ongoing efforts to improve the stability of the national grid.
Located in Ikorodu, Lagos State, Egbin Power Plant has an installed capacity of 1,320 megawatts, with six generating units of 220 megawatts each. The facility remains Nigeria’s largest thermal power station and one of the country’s major sources of electricity supply.
