Ex-Army General's Abductors Release Video, List Livestock Among Demands

The abductors of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, a former Director of Defence Information, and his wife have released a video showing the couple in captivity and outlining conditions for their release.

The couple was abducted along the Marabar Musawa–Kafinsoli Road in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State near Zakin Baure village.

In the video, the wife of the retired military officer appealed to authorities to meet the kidnappers' demands, which include the release of three individuals identified as Sani, Aminu and Nasiru, as well as the return of livestock allegedly seized from them.

According to her, two of the individuals were arrested in Jikamshi while the third was apprehended in Kano State.

She also appealed to the Katsina State Government and leaders of five local government areas to intervene and facilitate efforts that could lead to their freedom.

Speaking briefly in the footage, Abubakar called for peace and dialogue, stating that the abductors had expressed a willingness to pursue peaceful coexistence.

Reports indicate that a notorious bandit leader operating in parts of Katsina State has reportedly established communication with the retired general's family regarding the abduction.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Katsina State Government nor security agencies had issued an official statement on the video or the demands made by the abductors.
