The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), under the leadership of Minister Nyesom Wike, has sealed the National Headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) located at Wadata Plaza in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.
The action is part of a broader initiative by the FCTA to reclaim properties due to unpaid ground rent, leading to the revocation of 4,794 land titles.
The PDP headquarters was sealed as the party reportedly owes 28 years of ground rent, totaling N7.6 million.
The FCTA clarified that an individual named Samaila Maman Ofi owns the property.
The FCTA's move has sparked controversy, with the PDP labeling it as a politically motivated act aimed at stifling opposition by the APC government.
Despite the backlash, the FCTA insists that the revocation is a standard procedure impacting various entities that have failed to meet their financial obligations regarding ground rent.
The development is occurring amid internal conflicts within the PDP, with a notable battle for control between the Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, and the FCTA minister, Nyesom Wike, as reported by Punch.
