FG Praises Retired Permanent Secretaries, Urges Stronger Partnership for National Progress

The Federal Government has hailed the Council of Retired Federal Permanent Secretaries (CORFEPS) as a crucial source of institutional memory and pledged stronger collaboration to drive national development.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, spoke at CORFEPS’s 2025 Annual Dinner in Abuja, describing the council as “living repositories of institutional memory” essential for effective policy and governance continuity.

Akume highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to involving elder statesmen in governance, with several CORFEPS members appointed to key positions.

He urged for greater use of their expertise to address Nigeria’s policy gaps.

RETIRED PERM SECS

CORFEPS Chairman, Yayale Ahmed, CFR, reaffirmed the council’s role as “custodians of administrative heritage,” emphasizing that retirement does not end their service to the nation.

The SGF pledged ongoing partnership with the Office of the Head of Civil Service to implement CORFEPS’s recommendations for stronger governance.

This collaboration aims to harness experience to ensure consistent policies and sustainable national progress.
