The Federal Government says it is serious about turning Nigeria’s polytechnics into centres for innovation and hands on skills.
This move aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Education Minister, Dr Tunji Alausa, unveiled the plan at the Committee of Heads of Polytechnics retreat in Abuja.
He said the reforms will strengthen technical and vocational education, deepen industry partnerships, and support entrepreneurship and innovation hubs.
Key focus areas include renewable energy, agriculture, digital manufacturing, and climate smart solutions.
The FG is also moving to amend the Polytechnic Act to end the HND dichotomy.
In addition, a 2026 TETFund intervention is planned to upgrade engineering facilities nationwide.
