Five die, 10 injured in Ogun Crash

Five people have been confirmed dead and 10 others injured in a lone motor accident along the Abeokuta–Lagos Expressway in Ogun State.

The crash occurred around 11:12 a.m. on Thursday at Iyana Egbado and involved a white Mazda E2000 bus carrying 20 passengers.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said the vehicle had six adult males, 11 adult females, one male child and two female children on board.

According to the FRSC, five occupants—including two women, one man, one male child and one female child—were burnt to death, while 10 others sustained injuries of varying severity. Five passengers escaped unhurt.

The accident was attributed to speeding and overloading.

Injured victims were taken to the General Hospital, Ifo, and Oreofe Specialist Hospital, Itori, while bodies of the deceased were deposited at the Ifo General Hospital morgue.

FRSC officials have urged motorists to obey traffic rules and avoid speeding and overloading, especially during the festive period.
