Former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has reaffirmed his support for the club following the Premier League verdict finding it guilty of 114 financial rule breaches.
Guardiola, who left City at the end of last season after 10 years in charge, posted on Instagram that he remains behind the club, its owner, chairman, players, staff and supporters.
The Premier League’s findings relate to City’s financial reporting and commercial revenue between 2009 and 2018.
The report alleges that the club overstated commercial revenue and reduced costs by about £900 million, while also misstating its accounts and concealing its financial position.
Manchester City has strongly denied the allegations and confirmed that it will appeal the verdict.
Guardiola had previously defended the club while the case was still being considered, saying he trusted the explanations given to him by the club’s officials.
City was initially charged in February 2023, with the hearing lasting 42 days in late 2024.
The verdict is the latest development in the long-running dispute between Manchester City and the Premier League.
