Halifield Schools, Maryland, Lagos, has secured third place at the second regional finals of the Season 9 edition of the I Beg to Differ debate after defeating Grace High School, Gbagada, in a closely contested round.
The debate, which focused on the motion “Poverty Is A Choice, Not A Circumstance,” featured strong arguments from both schools.
At the end of the round, Halifield Schools scored 96 points, narrowly edging Grace High School, which finished with 93 points.
The intense debate saw the students present well-structured arguments while countering opposing views.
With the victory, Halifield Schools clinched a one-million-naira prize and secured an automatic ticket to the national finals of the competition, where they will compete against other top-performing schools from across the country.
