Hamas Confirms Killing of Newly Appointed Military Commander in Gaza

Hamas has confirmed that its newly appointed military commander in Gaza, Mohammed Odeh, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza City.

In a statement, Hamas said an Israeli bomb struck a residential building on Tuesday, killing Odeh, his wife and two of his sons.

The group did not immediately provide further operational details on the strike.

“An Israeli strike targeted a residential building in Gaza City, resulting in the martyrdom of Commander Mohammed Odeh and members of his family,” the statement said.

Odeh had recently been appointed commander of the Qassam Brigades after his predecessor, Izz al-Din al-Haddad, was killed in an earlier Israeli strike.

The Israeli military has not issued a detailed response to the latest Hamas statement at the time of reporting.
