'I Will Be There' - Natasha Akpoti Vows to Resume At Senate on Tuesday

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan insists she will be back at the Senate on Tuesday after a little over four months since her suspension.

This she revealed in her hometown of Kogi on Saturday.

The Senator representing Kogi Central district says her decision is in line with the judgment of a Federal High Court in Abuja that asked for her recall from suspension by the Senate.

However, Senate President Godswill Akpabio is appealing that decision, taking it to the Court of Appeal in Abuja.

According to her, the intention to resume on Tuesday, 22nd of July 2025, has been communicated in a letter to the Senate.

“I have pretty much two months more before the six months expire. However, I have written to the Senate again telling them that I’m resuming on the 22nd, which is on Tuesday, by the special grace of God.

“I will be there, because the court did make the decision on that. Now, they argue that it’s an order — it’s not an order, but it is a decision,” she said.

While further reiterating her return, Natasha, however, noted her time away from the chambers did not stop her from carrying out due diligence to her constituency in other capacities.

“I did mention that every senator has three major functions," she said, adding: "Legislative - which is the creation of laws and review of treaties. Then we have oversight - which is to oversee ministers and agencies. And then the third is representation - which I’m doing.

“Whereby I identify the problems and the challenges of my community, and I make sure I present them and have them captured in the federal budget. And I have done pretty well with that. Of course, I do miss putting up my bills there, but it didn’t stop me from working.”

Recall that the Senate on March 6 suspended Akpoti-Uduaghan for six months following her allegation of sexual harassment against Senator President, Godswill Akpabio.

According to the Senate, the punishment was for breaching its rules, a decision she challenged at the courts.
