IGP Disu Decorates Eight New DIGs

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Monday decorated eight senior officers promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) at a ceremony held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

In his address, Disu said the promotion represents more than a symbolic honour, noting that it reflects the officers’ decades of dedicated service, professional excellence and leadership within the Nigeria Police Force.

He urged the newly promoted DIGs to strengthen internal discipline, drive reforms and ensure policing strategies remain responsive to evolving security challenges.

The police chief also encouraged them to leverage their experience in intelligence-led policing, operational coordination, inter-agency collaboration and accountability, while inspiring confidence within the Force and building public trust.

Disu thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Police Service Commission for supporting a transparent and professional promotion process. He also acknowledged the sacrifices made by the families of the officers.

The newly promoted DIGs are Zachariah Fera Achinyan, Zango Ibrahim Baba, Isyaku Mohammed, Margaret Agebe Ochalla, Mohammed Abdul Sulaiman, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha and Umar Shehu Nadada.

Together with the IGP and Force Secretary Olabode Adeleye Akinbamilowo, they form the new Force Management Team.
