Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has extended Eid-el-Fitr greetings to Muslims across Nigeria.
The police chief also ordered nationwide deployment of tactical assets to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration.
According to the Nigeria Police Force, Commissioners of Police and tactical commanders have been directed to step up security across all states and the FCT.
The plan includes deployment of special intervention squads, intelligence operatives and conventional police personnel to prayer grounds and key infrastructure.
There will also be increased presence on highways, motor parks and recreational centres.
The IGP further ordered coordinated patrols, stop and search operations, and enhanced surveillance to deter crime.
He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, while wishing Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid celebration.
