The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Joash O Amupitan, has led a Nigerian delegation to the International Election Observation Programme for South Korea’s nationwide local elections.
The programme, taking place in Seoul from May 29 to June 5, brings together election management bodies, international observers and electoral experts to observe and share experiences on local government elections in the South Korea.
Amupitan was accompanied by INEC National Commissioner May Agbamuche Mbu, Chief Technical Adviser to the Chairman Dimis Mai Lafia, and Director of Training Binta Kasim Mohammed.
According to INEC, the visit is designed to strengthen Nigeria’s electoral system through exposure to international best practices in election administration, observation and democratic governance.
The commission said insights gained from the programme will contribute to ongoing electoral reforms and capacity building efforts within Nigeria’s electoral management framework.
