The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the public display of the personal particulars and academic credentials of presidential candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The exercise, which began on Saturday, features documents submitted by President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his running mate, Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Tinubu's Form EC9 shows he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Chicago State University, United States, with honours in 1979.
The documents also include his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate, indicating he served in Oyo State between 1982 and 1983.
His work history lists employment with Mobil Nigeria Limited from 1983 to 1992, his tenure as Governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007, and his current role as President since 2023.
The documents also state that Tinubu was born on March 29, 1952, in Lagos, and list his occupation as a politician.
Shettima's records trace his education from primary school through tertiary level.
They show he earned a Second Class Upper degree in Agriculture from the University of Maiduguri in 1989 and later obtained a Master's degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ibadan.
His NYSC certificate indicates he served between 1989 and 1990.
INEC said the publication of Form EC9, which contains candidates' credentials, personal particulars and affidavits, is in line with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2026.
The commission added that the documents are available for public inspection at its offices nationwide and that members of the public may obtain certified true copies or challenge any alleged false declaration through the courts.
Campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled to begin on August 19, while governorship and state assembly campaigns will commence later in line with INEC's revised timetable.
