The Independent National Electoral Commission has recognised a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party aligned with Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, updating the party’s leadership on its official website.
The electoral body on Monday listed Abdulrahman Mohammed as National Chairman and Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary, alongside other members of the party’s National Working Committee.
Both men emerged at the PDP National Convention held Sunday night at the Velodrome of the National Stadium in Abuja, where party officials were returned by consensus following the dissolution of the national caretaker committee.
The updated list published by INEC includes key positions such as Deputy National Chairmen for North and South, National Treasurer, Organising Secretary, Publicity Secretary, Legal Adviser, and Women and Youth Leaders, among others.
The development signals a significant shift in the PDP’s internal power structure as political realignments intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
