INEC Reports Over 31,000 Unclaimed PVCs in Anambra Ahead of Voter Registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 31,690 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) remain unclaimed in Anambra State, raising concerns as the state prepares for a new voter registration exercise set to begin soon.

This was disclosed by the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for Anambra, Dr. Queen Agwu, during a press briefing on Thursday.

The unclaimed Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), which represent a significant portion of the electorate, could impact voter turnout and participation in upcoming elections.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is urging registered voters to collect their cards and participate actively in the electoral process.

To address this issue, INEC plans to intensify its awareness campaigns and engage community leaders to encourage citizens to claim their PVCs.

The commission also announced that new voter registration will commence shortly, providing an opportunity for eligible residents to register and collect their PVCs.

The situation underscores the ongoing challenges in ensuring comprehensive voter participation, which is crucial for the democratic process in Anambra and across Nigeria.
