The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it will publish an updated list of candidates for the 2027 general elections following a review prompted by complaints about errors and double nominations.
INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, disclosed this on Tuesday in Gombe while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of an interactive session with commission staff from the North-East zone.
Amupitan said the complaints included misspelt names and cases of double nominations.
He explained that the commission had allowed the maximum 14-day period for the review before releasing the updated list.
“As you know, usually, in any list published, there could be errors here and there, and there have been complaints of misspelling of names. We have also received complaints of double nominations.
“We decided to allow the maximum period of 14 days. Any moment from now, we will make the review public, and the list will be released,” he said.
The update comes as INEC continues preparations for the 2027 general elections.
