Insecurity: Expert Yahuza Getso Opposes Foreign Intervention, Urges Death Penalty for Criminals

Security intelligence and investigation expert, Yahuza Getso Ahmad, has strongly opposed the idea of seeking foreign assistance to tackle Nigeria’s escalating insecurity, a topic recently raised in a broadcast media platform.

He argued that relying on foreign powers undermines the country’s sovereignty and long-term capacity to manage its internal security challenges.

Getso emphasized that “Nigeria possesses both the resources and expertise necessary to address its security issues, provided the right measures are enforced.”

Getso, who is the Managing Director of Eagle Integrated Security and Logistics Ltd, advocated for the death penalty as a deterrent to heinous crimes such as terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping.

He maintained that “extreme punishments are necessary to send a strong message to perpetrators and reduce repeat offences.”

According to Getso, the root causes of insecurity are deeply embedded in “poor governance, weak law enforcement, and lack of accountability, not the absence of foreign help.”

He called on the government to reform the justice system and invest in intelligence-led policing rather than depend on external forces.

The debate around Nigeria’s security strategy continues to generate mixed reactions, but Getso's remarks underscore growing concerns about national self-reliance and the need for harsher penalties to address violent crimes.
