The Inter-Party Advisory Council has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies to ensure a free, fair and credible Osun State governorship election on August 15.
IPAC National Chairman, Yusuf Dantalle, made the call in Abuja after the council’s General Assembly meeting, expressing concern over rising political tension ahead of the poll.
Dantalle urged INEC to remain professional, independent and impartial, while ensuring strict compliance with the Constitution, Electoral Act 2026 and its election guidelines.
He also called on security agencies to protect voters, candidates, party agents, electoral officials and election materials without discrimination, warning against intimidation and the suppression of legitimate political activities.
The IPAC chairman condemned vote-buying, electoral violence and the use of state institutions to intimidate political opponents. He also appealed to parties, candidates and their supporters to pursue grievances through lawful channels.
Fourteen political parties have been cleared by INEC to contest the August 15 governorship election.
