Lawyer and former presidential campaign spokesperson Kenneth Okonkwo has announced his appointment as spokesperson to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Okonkwo disclosed the appointment in a statement on Thursday, thanking Atiku for what he described as the confidence reposed in him.
He said the appointment reflects Atiku's commitment to dialogue and inclusiveness, noting that discussions with the former vice president and members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) had addressed and guaranteed the interests of the South-East within the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 and prevailing political realities.
Okonkwo also acknowledged the contributions of former ADC National Chairman Ralphs Nwosu, Dr. Kashim Imam and Atiku's Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, Dr. Ekene Onwuka, for their roles in strengthening the coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He pledged to serve with wisdom and courage, expressing optimism that his new role would contribute to what he described as "a glorious and great Nigeria."
