The Lagos State government has unveiled a new digital platform aimed at modernising and speeding up the process of obtaining building permits across the city‑state.
The initiative, called the Electronic Physical Planning Permit Processing System, was developed under the state’s e‑LASPPPA framework by the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA).
It is designed to streamline what has long been a paper‑driven process, allowing residents, property developers and other stakeholders to apply for planning approvals online from anywhere.
Kehinde Osinaike, General Manager of LASPPPA, said in a statement that the platform will help reduce delays associated with traditional manual applications, making the permit process faster and more user‑friendly.
He added that the digital system would bring greater transparency and accountability to physical planning administration in Lagos.
According to Osinaike, the e‑permit system aligns with the state government’s commitment to leveraging technology to improve public service delivery, meet the needs of a rapidly growing population, and support Lagos’s vision of becoming a smart, digitally driven global city.
The launch comes amid ongoing efforts by authorities to reform the construction and planning sector in Lagos, part of broader moves to improve compliance with building standards and reduce bureaucratic hurdles for developers.
Developers and property owners are being encouraged to adopt the new system for their planning permit applications, as the government positions digital adoption as a key driver of efficiency and accountability in urban development.
