Lagos Pays ₦3bn Compensation to 331 Property Owners Affected by Road Projects

The Lagos State Government has presented ₦3 billion in compensation to 331 property owners whose lands were acquired for major road infrastructure projects across the state.

Presenting the cheques in Ikeja, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the payment reflects the government's commitment to balancing infrastructure development with the rights of affected residents, describing the exercise as both a legal obligation and an act of justice.

According to the governor, the beneficiaries were selected after a verification process involving property valuation, land title confirmation and enumeration to ensure only legitimate owners received compensation.

Sanwo-Olu said the road projects are expected to improve connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, facilitate commerce and stimulate economic growth.

He also assured residents with pending claims that valid applications would be processed after due verification, while warning against fraudulent compensation claims.
